How often should I get my dog groomed?
The answer to this question depends on many variables. Desired coat length and condition, the pet's age and hair growth cycle, and outdoor activities can all impact this decision. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend having dogs groomed every 4-6 weeks. Grooming isn't just for dogs that get a haircut! Regular bathing with professional products can greatly reduce the amount of hair Labs and other short haired dogs can shed and leave all over your home. Even if you feel your pet doesn't need a bath or haircut, nails should be trimmed at least once a month. Long nails can lead to joint problems because they change the angle the foot hits the ground, as well as increasing the risk that the nail will break off into the quick which can be very painful.
How long will the grooming appointment be?
Again, this depends on your dog's coat length and condition, as well as the desired spa package. Most appointments for small to medium dogs, such as Shih Tzus and Poodles, for a full haircut package take between 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Larger dogs such Doodles and Golden Retrievers take between 2-3 hours. When you bring your dog in for their appointment, we'll give you an estimated time frame and usually call 10-15 minutes before your pet is finished.
Drop off/pick up times
As we have no kennels and only groom one dog at a time, it is very important that clients arrive on time for appointments. We do confirmation calls the day before appointments. If you are unable to make your appointment let us know as soon as possible by calling 643-1133. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, we may have to reschedule so we can give both you and the clients scheduled for the remainder of the day the best possible service. When you drop your pet off for grooming we will give you an estimated time for pickup- we can also call you 10-15 minutes before your pet is finished. Again, as we have no kennels please pick your pet up promptly.
